Process Color (Multi-Color)

With Four-Color Process Printing any color, solid colors and full-color photographs alike, can be printed through the combination of four separate plates - each of a different process color - cyan, magenta, yellow and black.

Solid colors can be chosen using our tint chart (or we'd be happy to select them for you). This chart provides a four-digit code for each color which indicates the value of each process color. Each digit multiplied by 10, provides the percentage of each color (A=100%, 1=10%).

For example, 15A0:

is made up of 10% cyan, 50% magenta, 100% yellow and 0% black:

Pantone colors must be converted to CMYK values and may not exactly match those depicted in PMS swatch books.

Spot Color

Spot color refers to a pre-mixed ink which is printed on separate plate from black.

Spot colors available at GateHouse are Red, Green, Blue, Cyan, Magenta or Yellow. Black is mandatory, therefore a spot position can only include Black + 1 spot color. Spot colors must be prepared using the following CMYK values and can be used as screen percentages.

Red (0A60) = 0% cyan 100% magenta 60% yellow 0% black
Green (A0A0) = 100% cyan 0% magenta 100% yellow 0% black
Blue (A600) = 100% cyan 60% magenta 0% yellow 0% black
